How Does a Keyholding Service Work?
A keyholding service works in 5 steps: property registration, key coding, vault storage, authorised key release and visit reporting. A PSA-licensed provider holds the keys and attends the property out of hours, so owners, staff and family are not called out.

Register the Property
Vigilant records the site address, entry points, alarm panel type, access instructions and an authorised contact list. Every key set is logged against the client account at handover.

Code the Keys
Each key set is sealed in a tamper-evident pouch and tagged with a unique barcode serial number. Property names and addresses are never written on the tag, so a lost key cannot be traced to the premises.

Store the Keys in a Secure Safe
Coded key sets are stored in a secure, access-controlled key safe at the Tallaght operations office. Only PSA-licensed, Garda-vetted staff can access it.

Release the Keys for Authorised Visits Only
A licensed officer collects the keys for approved visits: scheduled lock-up, morning unlock, tradesperson access, cleaner access or a client-requested inspection. Every release and return is recorded with the date, time and officer name.

Inspect the Property and Send the Report
The officer checks doors, windows, gates and interior zones, then re-secures the property and rearms the alarm. A digital report with arrival time, findings and action taken is emailed to the client after every visit.
